Cadasio includes several auto-hide options that give you precise control over when markup is visible. These settings help keep your steps clear and professional without restricting viewer interaction.

This guide explains each auto-hide mode and when to use it.

Why use auto-hide for 2D markup?

Without visibility controls, markup can:

  • Overlap as the camera rotates
  • Appear disconnected from the relevant part
  • Distract from the main focus of a step

Auto-hide ensures markup appears only when it is useful and disappears when it would otherwise reduce clarity.

Where to find auto-hide settings

To access auto-hide options:

  1. Select a piece of 2D markup
  2. Open the General tab
  3. Locate the Auto Hide dropdown

By default, this setting is Off, meaning the markup is always visible.

Auto-hide modes explained

Straight On

With Straight On enabled, markup is visible only when the camera is looking straight at the face the leader is attached to.

There is a small tolerance, but as the camera angle shifts away, the markup disappears. It reappears when the camera returns to a straight-on orientation.

The face itself does not need to be visible. Only the viewing direction matters. That is why markup can still appear when viewing from below if the angle matches.

Best for: Precise instructional views where clarity depends on a specific angle.

Facing

Facing works similarly to Straight On but adds direction awareness.

The camera must be facing the surface the leader is attached to. If you rotate to the opposite side, the markup will not appear.

Best for: Situations where showing markup from the wrong side could be confusing.

Step

Step hides markup whenever the camera moves away from the position saved for that step, within a small tolerance.

This is one of the most commonly used options because it ties markup visibility directly to the intended viewing angle of the step.

Best for: Structured step-by-step instructions with controlled viewpoints.

Camera Move

Camera Move hides markup while the camera is actively moving and shows it again once movement stops.

This prevents distracting motion of 2D elements during navigation.

Best for: Interactive presentations where users frequently rotate and zoom.

Troubleshooting disappearing markup

If markup seems to disappear unexpectedly, auto-hide is often the reason.

For example, if auto-hide is set to Step and your current camera position does not match the saved step position, the markup will hide as soon as it is deselected.

Quick fixes

Restore the saved camera
Press C to return to the step’s saved camera. The markup will reappear if it matches the visibility rules.

Use the Toolbox Tree
Hover over items in the Toolbox Tree until you find the markup. Selecting it makes it visible again so you can adjust its settings.

Cleaner instructions with smarter visibility

Auto-hide options in Cadasio give you flexible control over when markup appears, helping you maintain clean, readable instructions without limiting viewer freedom.

By choosing the right visibility mode for each situation, you can reduce clutter, improve clarity, and create more professional presentations.
