This makes it easier to keep content consistent and update information across a project.
Creating Properties
Properties are managed from the Library section of the dashboard. To create a property, click the plus icon, provide a name, and choose the appropriate scope. Properties can be created for use within projects, layouts, or both.
Using Properties in Presentations
Within a 3D presentation, properties can be inserted into text-based elements. One common use case is displaying project-specific information such as order numbers, customer names, or other values that may change between projects.
Once inserted, the displayed content updates automatically based on the property value.
Using Properties in Overlays
Properties are frequently used within overlays. When editing text inside the Overlay Builder, properties can be inserted directly into the content. Whenever the overlay is used, the property values are automatically populated.
This allows a single overlay to be reused across multiple projects.
Using Properties in Forms
Forms also support properties. Wherever the property icon is available, a property can be inserted into the content. This can be useful for displaying project names, timings, personnel requirements, and other dynamic information without manually editing each form.
Entering Property Values
Property values are assigned within the Designer using the Properties tool. Once values have been entered, any presentation elements referencing those properties update automatically.
Using Properties in Layouts
Properties are particularly useful within layouts. Text elements can reference either layout properties or project properties. Cadasio also includes predefined properties such as project name, page number, and step index. This makes it possible to create title pages, revision blocks, and other reusable layout elements.
Grouping with Project Images
When using project properties inside layouts, text elements must be grouped with a project image. Once grouped, the property placeholders are replaced with values from the linked project.
Creating Reusable Templates
One of the most useful aspects of properties is their ability to support templates. A layout can be saved as a template and reused with different projects. Property values update automatically, allowing the same layout to be used repeatedly without manual editing.
Refreshing Properties
If project information changes while a layout is open, select Refresh from the File menu. This updates the document with the latest property values.
Summary
Properties provide a simple way to create dynamic content within presentations, forms, overlays, and layouts. By storing information centrally and reusing it throughout a project, they help reduce manual updates and make content easier to maintain.
