Whether you’re producing illustrations for documentation, generating marketing assets, or simply showcasing your designs, this release brings a host of visual and performance enhancements to support your workflow.
More Control with Additional Edge Options
One of the most requested features is now available: enhanced edge visibility from your CAD models. In this update, we’ve added a new option across all of our CAD add-ins that lets you include more advanced edges when creating a project.
To enable this feature, open the Options tab, go to the Advanced section, and tick the new “Include advanced edges” checkbox.

Once selected, you’ll see additional edge settings in the Cadasio Designer, which can be changed at either the scene or individual part level.

With "include Advanced Edges" ticked on, you will now have three levels of control:
- None - No edges will be shown, as in previous versions.
- Basic - Displays the standard set of visible edges. This is equivalent to having edges turned on when you have not enabled advanced edge option in the addin.
- Full - Displays all available edges, including tangent edges

These edge settings offer more flexibility in how your models are presented visually, allowing for both clean and richly detailed 2D illustrations. For example, a basic setting might suit a minimal style, while full edge visibility provides greater clarity and technical depth. Please note this will not affect proejcts that have already been created unless you update them with the new option enabled.
You will need to get the latest version of the addin, which it should prompt you to do automatically, or you can head over to addins section of our website.
Updated 2D Image Export Options
We’ve made several improvements to how you export 2D images from Cadasio, including changes to both image format and output quality.
WebP as the New Default File Type
Cadasio now uses WebP as the default file format for 2D image exports, replacing PNG wherever possible. WebP offers a number of advantages including:
- Smaller file sizes
- Faster export and load times
There is broad compatibility across modern browsers and image editing software.
New Image Quality Settings

Previously, image exports were limited by your screen resolution. With this update, you can now choose from three quality presets depending on your needs:
- Low – Exports images at 600 pixels wide. This is ideal if you are not planning to export 2D images and want faster step saving.
- Default – Exports images at the width of your browser window, typically 1920 pixels.
- High – Exports images at 8000 pixels wide. This option is designed for those who need high-resolution outputs, such as for print.
These new options give you full control over the balance between quality and performance during export. However please note that setting the quality to high will impact the time required to save and update steps.
Sharper Detail Views

Detail views have also been upgraded. Thanks to the new image quality improvements, they are now saved at a higher resolution by default. This results in much clearer detail markups, particularly when you resize them .
Improved SVG Output
If you prefer scalable vector graphics, you’ll be pleased to know that we’ve enhanced our SVG export functionality. You should notice faster generation times, cleaner geometry, and the introduction of an optional colour mode. When combined with the new edge detection settings, the result is professional, high-quality vector illustrations that are perfect for both technical documentation and visual presentation.
Set Default Font and Colour for Text

To streamline the styling of your text markups, you can now define default fonts and colours for use in your projects. When editing text, if you delete the existing content, your chosen default style will automatically apply.
To configure this, visit the Fonts area within your dashboard and set your preferred font and colour. This makes it easier to maintain a consistent look across your projects with fewer clicks.
General Performance Improvements and Fixes
As always, we’ve also taken the time to address a range of smaller issues and implement customer-requested enhancements. These include performance optimisations, bug fixes, and refinements to existing tools and interfaces.
Your feedback continues to shape the future of Cadasio, and we’re grateful for every suggestion. If you have an idea or feature you’d love to see, don’t forget to log an enhancement request through the Cadasio website. Your input helps us create better tools for everyone.
Thank you for being part of the Cadasio community. We hope these updates help you create even more impressive and professional results. Keep an eye out for more exciting features coming soon.
